Lu Lu Lemon has become one of the best athletic clothes brand to date, offering both men’s and women’s clothing at a high price to tennis players, runners, dancers, crossfitters, and people who practice yoga. On average, a pair of shorts cost around $60. A shirt is around the same price or more. Workout pants average from $80 to $120.
Why is there such a rave about Lu Lu Lemon? First, Mississippi is taking initiative to fight against bad health. Second, because of charming southern belle personalities, it would be much more enticing to work out in stylish clothes than working out in old sweats. I know new work out clothes are definitely great incentive to hit the gym.
There are two stores near the Hattiesburg area, one in Jackson, Mississippi, and the other is in New Orleans. I have been to the store in New Orleans and I will say I had an enjoyable experience.
Additionally, the clothes have full support and are made very well. Make sure to NEVER put them in the dryer. The clothes are air dry only!
In America today, our culture thrives on food. “Let’s go talk about this over dinner,” many say. “Who is going to cater the party?”Food is the main priority of any event right next in line with venue.
Every holiday is celebrated with huge family dinners. Thanksgiving has a very traditional meal full of carbs, sauces and casseroles. It’s expected to eat until you are stuffed, encouraging overeating. During this one meal, the average person indulges in around 4,000 calories. This is triple the amount of a normal diet.
So, what does all of this mean and why does it matter? In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and body, you have to have a well balanced diet. Am I saying eliminate the good stuff (pizza, pasta and pastries)? Absolutely not. Everything is good in moderation. Don’t miss your birthday cake. That’s torture. But do not make eating unhealthy things or overeating a habit.
When tempted to have more than one slice of pizza, remember the effects that eating a lot of this food will cause you to be more tired and you will not feel energized and well enough to perform your best during your workout .
Many times, you might feel the need to over indulge after your workout because you have burned a lot of calories and your body wants to recover. Instead of over eating, have a protein shake before your meal and drink plenty of water making your hunger not be so bad.
Many years ago, the Chinese used a different technique to flush out antioxidants in their bodies called Gua Sha . Today, including Hattiesburg, Mississippi, people are bringing back this intense physical scraping to make their bodies the best it can be.
In the image above, Reed is performing Gua Sha. This therapeutic scraping produces an anti inflammatory and immune protective effect that lasts for days after an initial treatment. People feel relief from fever, sickness including Hepatitis, nausea, vomiting, and more. The more toxins you have in your body, the more dead blood cells will rise to the surface leaving the body looking bruised.
Many of my friends who are active find it effective for their body. Their only complaint is the redness that stays on their bodies for a few days. Some people get it done once a week for best results. Before trying Gua Sha, I recommend researching safety guidelines to ensure your body is being treated properly, preferably by a professional.
Christmas, 2015, I noticed my jeans were not figure flattering as they once were. My clothes were fitting tighter. I got on the scale, and my weight was not what I expected. I could not understand how this happened. I was eating two meals a day. I skipped breakfast. I ate a salad for lunch, and normally ate something warm for dinner. I worked out twice a week.
A friend told me to try the My Fitness Pal app. This app counts your calories and your nutrients- protein, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar and fat. She helped me understand I need to know what is going in my body, and the importance of having a balanced diet. My Fitness Pal showed me how terrible I was treating my body. I did not change anything about my diet the first day I used the app. I ate a Newk’s Cobb Salad and a cup of broccoli and cheese soup. This meal was approximately one thousand calories. The next thing I ate was a chicken tender meal from Chick-fil-a. This was approximately 800 calories. I did have small snacks such as fudge and potato chips. I listed every bite I ate on My Fitness Pal. I was completely shocked to discover that I was consuming around 2,500 calories per day. When I looked at the nutrients, I realized the majority of my diet included carbs, sugars, and fats. I was hurting myself, and my diet needed to change.
I researched what a healthy diet looks like. I need to intake about 70 grams of protein per day. I also need to eat five or six times a day. Eat eat eat! Each day, I consume on average no more than 1200 calories a day. I also add my exercise to My Fitness Pal, which tells me how many calories I burn.
I have lost 12 pounds in a month and a half, and I have lost two inches around my bust, waist and hips. My Fitness Pal holds me accountable and teaches me to treat my body well.
Did you have too much fun during Mardi Gras? If you live in South Mississippi or Louisiana, you most likely celebrated in New Orleans with friends and family. Bloody Mary’s, fried seafood and king cake have been food groups for the past few days. I do not regret celebrating one of my favorite holidays and the traditions affiliated with Mardi Gras.
Now it is time to burn calories and rejuvenate the body. I’m calling this detox the Mardi Gras Mambo. Here is a general easy cleanse to get your body back to normal and fueled for life.
Drink three liters of water at minimum.
Eat vegetables and meat. These are clean carbs and protein.
Eat an apple or grapefruit in between meals.
The goal of this cleanse is to recharge and nourish your body. Green vegetables are the best to eat. These vegetables hold fiber your body needs to flush out antioxidants.
I recommend doing cardio . Replenish your body with water and nutrients, sweat out impurities, and hydrate your body immediately after. This process is important for the body to recover properly.
Do not regret your fun, and don’t let Mardi Gras take away your mambo.
Have you ever considered lifting weights? If you are dabbling in the exercise world, you have seen or heard about lifting weights. Ladies, lets go ahead and talk about the elephant in the room. Lifting weights will not make you bulky. In the past month, I lost ten pounds. Here’s the even better part. I lost inches lifting weights. Throw away those sexist thoughts; men can have bodies at their strongest and fullest potential, but women should just stick to running or the stare stepper. Women, you are strong. Lifting weights causes you to burn fat faster while toning muscles at the same time.
When I first began lifting, I used a hallow PVC pipe. Today, I can put 100 pounds above my head. To increase the speed of fat burning, I always do cardio to take my body to the next level of improvement.
Form is everything! You must have proper technique to lift heavy weights. No matter the weight increase, form stays the same. I have dropped my weight down before to work on technique if I felt my form was getting sloppy. Sloppy causes injury. Once you achieve muscle memory from practicing proper form, you will increase your muscle tone and strength dramatically.
I have provided a link of a CrossFitter’s story and her wonderful life experiences because she lifts weights. CNN did an interview with her because she was 9 months pregnant dead lifting (picking weight up from the floor and standing) 215 pounds. She says strength made her pregnancy easier. She also blogged about her entire experience on crossfitandpregnant.com . Here, you can find her experience and other women’s experiences lifting and working out while pregnant. Whether you are pregnant or not, this shows the power of lifting weights for women. Be beautiful, strong and happy. You already are on the inside, now it’s time to show it on the outside.
Exercise- engage in physical activity to sustain or improve health and fitness. Exercise is becoming a trending topic in 2016 because we live in a spoiled culture. It is common to see a student riding their hover board to class instead of walking. If this becomes more popular, majority of students will never move a muscle all day. Talk about the freshman fifteen. It’s going to be more accurately the freshman fifty. As we evolve (get larger), people seek exercise as a way to cope with the laziness and the piece of cake clogging our arteries. The only problem is, what you put in your body affects your physical performance in the gym and your everyday life. If you fill your gas tank with water, your car isn’t going to get very far.
As you begin your exercise routine, whether it be high impact such as cross fit , or low impact if you are a beginner, such as walking for thirty minutes each day, you will not get the results you want without your fuel. Protein, carbs, fiber and some fats and sugars all need to be part of your diet and balanced properly to get the best results. Your body needs nutrients, not junk! As you begin to prepare your daily meals, you will learn ways to substitute greasy french fries and candy.
Step one of exercise- fuel your body with nutrients it needs for the best performance.
